I just don't buy that it is about the money for Olympic sports. The inference is that their sports teams are loaded with higher quality talent because they give academic scholarships to student athletes. I would be very interested to examine the costs paid by non-athletic scholarships of Stanford athletes compared to that of VT athletes. My point is that i agree maybe, and that's a big maybe, provides more non-athletic money to athletes than VT does, but their tuition is quite a bit higher than VT.....and VT has a huge advantage of providing in state tuition whereas Stanford's huge price tag is their huge price tag. I honestly don't know, but at face value I am just not buying it is because of money. I think the quality of coaches and the focus of their athletic programs is a deeper commitment to performing well in all sports.
